Pau French Racing and Wine Tour

A fantastic racing and wine tasting package in Southern France. Gourmet food throughout in this beautiful region of France and top class racing with some wine tasting in the vineyards at the foot of the Pyrenees.

This package will appeal to individuals/couples and corporate clients alike and can be tailored for a personal celebration or to reward clients or top achievers within an organization.

Sample schedule

Day one

Various start timers available, eg 07-15 Depart London City airport direct to Pau.

10-30 On arrival group taken by minibus from airport to 4* hotel Villa Navarre for welcome coffee and check in. The hotel is steeped in history having been originally built in 1865. It is located within parkland of two hectares with the superb backdrop of the Pyrenees. It is quintessentially an English country manor house within France.

12-30 Depart the hotel for lunch at the Fin Gourmet restaurant in the centre of Pau.

14-00 Private tour of the National Stud with stallion parade. They have stallions anglo-arab, thoroughbreds and arabians, and also have draft horses. There is a fabulous tack room, a workshop and a working place for the farrier and some traditional carriages.

16-00 Tour and wine tastings at two Jurancon vineyards with an opportunity to taste wines and local cheeses.

The first vineyard Clos Lapeyre where we will have a guided tour followed by tastings in a fabulous room with a huge fireplace overlooking the mountains and vineyards.

The second vineyard Domaine de Souche located 6kms from the centre of Pau against the backdrop of the Pic du Midi d’Osseau where all the vines are cultivated and harvested by hand.

19-00 Return to the hotel where guests will be free to do their own thing or go into the town centre and stroll on the Boulevard des Pyrenees.

Day two

08-00 Leisurely breakfast and free time to enjoy the hotel facilities

11-30 Transfer to the Pau racecourse for lunch in the restaurant panoramique and the biggest days racing featuring the Grand Prix de Pau steeplechase. A private trip to the paddock during racing has been arranged.

17-00 After racing return to the hotel and guests are free to amuse themselves before dinner.

20-00 Dinner in the fabulous hotel restaurant where we can reflect on the days events.

Day three

9-30 After breakfast a tour of a racing stables and look at the gallops / training facilities in Pau. We will also visit the brand new vets clinic and have mid morning coffee in the cafeteria at the training centre.

12-00 Minibus takes everyone back to the airport.

13-15 Plane leaves for London.

14-20 Arrive London city airport where guests depart.
